Glad to see the resurrection.
Without wanting to overdo it on the Odd Future, Earl Sweatshirt front, he genuinely appears to be the most exciting rapper for a long while. He's latest tune Woah is worth a listen, but I've been obsessed with this tune for a while now and he makes it in my opinion:
A recent discovery to me, Tune-Yards are really fun.
And on a more downbeat note, The Villagers are tickling my fancy at the moment. I really like how this song ends.

Resurrection
As the dark nights recede and a new year properly begins, I thought it might be an idea to resurrect the blog. So here goes...
The stripped down beat, simple piano loop, and heartfelt, melancholic lyrics work perfectly together in Earl Sweatshirt's "Chum". The video is stunner too - something sinister to it...
Earl Sweatshirt "Chum" from Hiro Murai on Vimeo.
Chum lyrics here
Veering away from melancholy to Oddisee's Ready to Rock, a track with an irresistible head nodding bounce off his first proper solo album People Hear What They See... Check it out from 2:14 in
And to throw things off the hiphop course, a cheeky one from techno/house producer Stimming off his latest EP:
Oh, and watch out for Lorde, I reckon there's potential for a rising star (you heard it here first):

The lines, the lines n lines n lines...
This week has been accompanied by Xxxy's remix of Ghostpoet's Liiines. It has a great break down and drop in the middle of the track. Check it!

Video Games
Quite a few remixes of Lana Del Ray's Video Games out there it seems, but these three are the best ones in my view:
To Kill A King - "Video Games" (Lana Del Rey cover) by To Kill A King

Constant Gardening
Allo allo me ol' chinas.
Recently I have been enjoying some tunes that have been found through varioius adverts/soundtracks.
First up, Dicholo by Ayub Ogada, as featured in The Constant Gardener. I love the the chorus to this song, its pretty cheesey, but a nice start to any day.
Secondly, On My Radio by The Selecter, as featured in the recent John Lewis advert. Get your skank on. Nice little organ solo as well.
Finally, I thought I'd already posted this (apologies if I have), but here is the DFA remix of Paper Planes from the Slumdog Millionaire Soundtrack. Slightly unnecessary in length, but the bass is fun times...
